Zesco came to us in 2025 after we met him during one of our mobile clinic outreaches. As an older donkey who had worked hard throughout his life, we found that his leg conformation made working increasingly difficult, and we decided that retirement at Maramba Farm would be best for him.

His name, Zesco, comes from Zambia’s electricity company. His owners named him this because they saw him as a strong and powerful donkey.

Today, Zesco enjoys a peaceful life with the rescue herd. He has a very curious and friendly personality and loves to come over for a sniff when you say hello. With his adorable face and gentle nature, Zesco is always happy to have some company and be near his people.
